November is a very heartwarming season. It is also the “Month of Thanksgiving” here at SVCA. Praise the Lord! Let us offer our thanksgiving to God through these 30 Bible passages - one passage a day. This year’s Thanksgiving Bible passages are inspired by our annual theme - "Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Cor. 3:17b).” Let's submit to the Work of the Holy Spirit through these passages. Let’s experience the mighty power of the Holy Spirit in our corporate service and personal lives. He is able to deliver, anoint, heal, renew, and change us, so that we can live a Spirit-filled life full of freedom and abundance.

Month of Thanksgiving - Day 3

Romans 7:24-8:4
24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin. 1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Paul shares with us in today's Scripture that God sent His own Son to have a human nature as sinners have, not only to pay for sin, but also to condemn sin in our corrupt nature.

Therefore, we have not only be rescued from the penalty of sins through the death of Jesus Christ, but also could be free from the power of sin through the presence and power of God's Holy Spirit who indwells every believer! Salvation involves more than a right standing before God; Salvation should also transform us from glory to glory in our daily experience.

However, such transformation process won't happen automatically simply because the Holy Spirit indwells us. We need to walk according to Spirit, not according to the flesh. Walking by the Spirit means walking in submission to and dependence on the Spirit, rather than allowing our sinful nature to govern our lives!

Do you really want to experience the true freedom in Spirit? Let's walk under the authority of the indwelling Spirit and give thanks to our heavenly Father for His marvelous salvation!
